Jacob Banda awarded as the most decorated player in the history of the ABSA CUP formerly Barclays Cup
When it comes to personal achievements out of a team that demands points through scores and a bit of show-off of some skills, assists and of course a lot of goal, it is always the strikers that will be among the decorated. So, players like defenders are often off the lime light later on goal keepers.
It is therefore, really an honor to see one of the goalkeepers being one of the great winners of this remarkable award, not once but for many times, being one of the great recognition. Jacob Banda, the former shot stopper and a legendary Zesco Goalie, has been awarded with an Absa cup recognition award as the competition’s most decorated player since its inception.
In the Absa cup, or formerly known as Barclays cup, Banda has won 6 of its cup titles. Banda first won his first Absa trophy in 2007 when he was with Zesco united. Then in 2008, 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2019 which happened to be the year he opted to hang his boots.
We all sure this award will gather golden dust on the shelves as it will be a reminder to the legend.
