Zambia U17 Women Edge Tanzania to Seal Final Round Qualification
Copper Princesses Edge Tanzania to Secure 4-0 Aggregate Victory
Zambia’s U-17 Women’s National Team has taken another step toward back-to-back FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualification after defeating Tanzania 1-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. The Copper Princesses completed a 4-0 aggregate victory, securing a place in the final round of the African qualifiers for the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
Nkaka’s Strike Seals Victory for Zambia
After an impressive 3-0 away win in the first leg, Zambia needed only to avoid a heavy defeat to advance. However, the young side maintained their momentum and found the breakthrough in the 53rd minute through defender Natasha Nkaka. Her well-taken goal ensured Zambia finished the tie without conceding, highlighting their defensive resilience and attacking efficiency.
Despite holding a commanding lead, coach Carol Kanyemba’s team displayed hunger and determination throughout the match, keeping Tanzania at bay and controlling possession to see out the win.
Coach Kanyemba Prepares for Final Round Challenge
Speaking after the match, Zambia’s head coach Carol Kanyemba expressed pride in her team’s performance and emphasized their readiness for the next stage.
“We have a video analyst who is specialized in bringing footage for our opponents. So we have been observing both Congo and Benin,” Kanyemba stated in her post-match press conference.
“But we’ll be able to know our opponents after the final results. We have some footage for both teams, so we know the kind of opponents that we’re going to face,” she added.
Kanyemba further highlighted her team’s determination to make history by securing consecutive World Cup qualifications.
“If you want to make it and be good in life, you need to beat the best and set records. So our girls are motivated and are very ready to meet whoever is on the way,” she declared.
One Step Away from Morocco 2025
Zambia now awaits the outcome of the Benin vs. DR Congo tie, with the winner set to face the Copper Princesses in the final round of qualifiers. The decisive fixtures will take place in April, with the overall winner securing a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.
With Zambia’s remarkable defensive solidity and attacking firepower, Kanyemba’s side will be optimistic about their chances of making history once again.
