FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have officially appointed experienced Zambian coach Wedson Nyirenda as their new head coach on a two-year contract.
The 59-year-old was unveiled during a press conference in Blantyre on Wednesday, becoming the latest Zambian tactician to take charge of one of Southern Africa’s biggest football clubs.
A Proven Winner
Nyirenda arrives at Big Bullets with an impressive coaching résumé built over more than two decades.
The former Chipolopolo head coach has enjoyed success across the region, managing clubs such as ZESCO United, Zanaco, Ferroviário da Beira, Baroka FC and Lusaka Dynamos.
His achievements include back-to-back league titles with ZESCO United, a Super League championship with Zanaco, a historic league triumph with Ferroviário da Beira in Mozambique and domestic cup success with both Lusaka Dynamos and Baroka FC.
At international level, Nyirenda also guided Zambia during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
Big Bullets Back Their New Coach
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets President Konrad Buckle expressed confidence in the appointment, describing Nyirenda as the right man to help the club achieve its ambitions.
“Wedson is a coach with a proven track record and a wealth of experience gained at some of the biggest clubs in the region.”
“We believe he has the qualities, leadership and expertise to make a real difference at FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.”
The Malawian giants are hoping Nyirenda’s experience and winning mentality will help maintain their status as one of the region’s top clubs.
Nyirenda Excited by New Challenge
Speaking after his unveiling, Nyirenda said the club’s rich history and success played a major role in his decision to accept the offer.
“I am very excited and delighted to be in Malawi, especially because I have been appointed head coach of the country’s biggest club.”
“FCB Nyasa Big Bullets is a club with a remarkable history. Winning the league championship 17 times is a huge achievement and tells you everything about the stature of this football club.”
The veteran coach acknowledged the expectations that come with the role and said he is eager to become part of the club’s successful history.
Conclusion
Wedson Nyirenda’s appointment marks a significant move for both the coach and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
With a proven record of delivering trophies across Southern Africa, the Zambian tactician will be expected to continue the club’s winning tradition and challenge for more silverware in the coming seasons.
