
Zambia’s COSAFA U20 Women Dominate, Net 18 Goals in Three Games
Zambia’s Under-20 Women’s team has delivered another stunning performance at the ongoing COSAFA U20 Women’s Championship, securing a commanding 6-0 victory over Botswana. This result extends their perfect run to three consecutive wins, with an impressive total of 18 goals scored and none conceded.
The young Copper Queens dominated from the start, with Jacqueline Nambeye opening the scoring in the first minute. Goals from Saliya Mwanza (35’) and Mary Mbewe (41’) sealed a 3-0 lead at halftime. The second half saw relentless pressure, leading to an own goal by Botswana’s Ivy Mapkgatau (65’) and strikes from Edith Phiri (78’) and Ruth Muwowo (83’).

Head coach Charles Haalubono praised the team’s fitness and scoring form but highlighted the need for improved combinations as they prepare to face Mozambique. Midfielder Gift Chilwizhi echoed this, expressing determination to close the group stage on a high.
