Copper Queens to Face Banyana Banyana in COSAFA Final
The COSAFA Women’s Championship is set for an exciting finale as Zambia’s Copper Queens prepare to face off against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana. Zambia booked their spot in the final with a strong 2-0 victory over Malawi, showcasing their tactical discipline and attacking prowess.
Ochumba Oseke Lubanji and Fridah Mukoma were instrumental, with Lubanji breaking the deadlock just after halftime and Mukoma doubling the lead in the 68th minute after capitalizing on a defensive error. Mukoma’s fourth goal of the tournament helped seal a well-deserved win and secure Zambia’s chance at the title.

On the other hand, Banyana Banyana overcame a challenging semi-final against Mozambique, triumphing 4-1 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time. Although South Africa initially struggled to contain Mozambique’s Cidalia Cuta, a penalty conversion by Tshegofatso Motlogelwa balanced the score before halftime. The match ultimately came down to penalties, where South Africa held their composure and secured the win.
The final showdown between the Copper Queens and Banyana Banyana is set to deliver an exciting contest. Both teams bring momentum and skill, with Zambia’s offensive strength up against South Africa’s resilience. Fans can expect a closely fought match as Zambia aims to capture the COSAFA title, while South Africa looks to claim victory on home soil for the first time since 2022.
