Copper Queens Aim to Secure First Win at 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship
The Zambia Women’s National Team, also known as the Copper Queens, is set to face Angola in their second match of the 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship. Following a disappointing goalless draw with Mozambique in their tournament opener, the defending champions are determined to secure their first victory in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Coach Bruce Mwape is considering potential changes to the lineup to improve the team’s performance. However, they face a tough opponent in Angola, who kicked off their campaign with a dominant 5-0 victory over Comoros.
In the goalkeeping department, Leticia Lungu faces competition from Ng’ambo Petronella Musole for the starting position. Esther Siamfuko is expected to continue at right back, with Lushomo Mweemba and Pauline Zulu forming the central defensive pairing. The left back slot will be contested between Judith Soko and Jackline Nkole.
The midfield partnership is likely to consist of Evarine Susan Katongo and Susan Banda, while the forward line options include Maylan Mulenga, Agnes Phiri, and Sarah Jere, who will compete with Natasha Nanyangwe and Rita Mwila for their spots.
