Benson Sakala Signs for Bohemians Praha 1905

Benson Sakala Joins Bohemians Praha 1905 After Mladá Boleslav Exit

Zambian international midfielder Benson Sakala has completed a move to Bohemians Praha 1905, becoming the latest African talent to feature in the Czech Republic First League.

Sakala joins Bohemians as a free agent following the expiration of his two-year contract with FK Mladá Boleslav, continuing his European journey in the Czech topflight.

 New Chapter in Czech Football

Sakala, 27, brings with him vast experience from the Czech league. He joined Mladá Boleslav in July 2023 from second-tier outfit FK Viagem Příbram, where he had impressed after a solid season. His move marks his fourth Czech club since leaving Zambia’s Power Dynamos in 2021.

His European journey began with FK Viktoria Žižkov in the 2021/22 season, before switching to Příbram, and later Mladá Boleslav.

Czech League Stats and Consistency

Across three Czech clubs, Sakala has played 88 matches, netting 3 goals and registering 1 assist—a respectable tally for a defensive midfielder known more for breaking up play than creating chances.

His consistent game time and durability have made him one of Zambia’s most reliable exports in Europe.

On the international stage, Sakala has been part of the Zambia national team setup since 2015, earning 35 caps. He remains a key figure in the midfield, often providing stability and leadership during AFCON qualifiers and COSAFA Cup tournaments.

His move to Bohemians Praha 1905 could provide fresh momentum ahead of Zambia’s upcoming international fixtures.

African Presence in Czech Football Grows

Bohemians Praha 1905, who finished mid-table last season, will look to Sakala’s experience, work ethic, and defensive cover to stabilize their midfield and push further up the table. His move also reinforces the growing pipeline of talent moving from Zambia to Europe, particularly into Central and Eastern European leagues.
