Beaumelle Appointed Angola Head Coach Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

Former Zambia national team assistant coach Patrice Beaumelle has been unveiled as the new head coach of the Angola national football team.

The Frenchman, who once served as deputy to Hervé Renard during Zambia’s historic 2012 AFCON-winning campaign, will now lead the Palancas Negras as they gear up for next month’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Beaumelle, 46, brings vast experience in African football, having previously worked in Zambia, Ivory Coast, and most recently with Morocco’s U-23 setup. His reputation as a tactician who blends discipline with attacking flair will be tested as he takes charge of an Angola side looking to revive its fortunes on the continental and global stage.

The Angolan FA expressed confidence that Beaumelle’s knowledge of African football and his proven ability to nurture talent will help steer the team towards qualification success.

This appointment also marks a reunion of sorts with Southern African football, where Beaumelle still enjoys respect and recognition for his role in Zambia’s golden era.
