Ackim Mumba Confident in Chipolopolo’s CHAN 2024 Preparations
Zambia and Red Arrows midfielder Ackim Mumba has expressed confidence in the Chipolopolo’s readiness for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). Speaking ahead of the official draw set to take place this evening, Mumba assured fans that the team is focused and determined to excel in the tournament.
CAF recently announced a rescheduling of CHAN 2024, moving the competition from February to August. The decision is aimed at accommodating a more comprehensive preparation period for participating nations, allowing them to assemble their best home-based talent.
Zambia Optimistic for Strong Performance
With CHAN exclusively showcasing players active in domestic leagues, Zambia’s squad features an impressive blend of talent, including Mumba, who has been instrumental for Red Arrows. The midfielder emphasized that the team is utilizing the extra time to fine-tune their strategies and improve fitness levels ahead of the tournament.
“We are committed to giving our best for Zambia, and I believe we will be ready to compete at the highest level come August,” Mumba said.
A Revised Schedule with Opportunities
CAF’s decision to shift the tournament dates provides Zambia with an extended window to strengthen their squad through local friendlies and regional tournaments. It also gives Head Coach Wedson Nyirenda additional time to evaluate players from the MTN Super League and National Division One League, ensuring a well-rounded team selection.
CHAN Draws This Evening
The draws for CHAN 2024, which will take place this evening, are highly anticipated. Fans across the nation are eager to learn Zambia’s opponents in the group stage and begin their countdown to August’s kickoff.
