ABSACup2026 Sunday: Forest Myooye, Play It Forward Advance
The ABSA Cup 2026 preliminary round continues this Sunday, 22 March, with two decisive fixtures lined up at Sunset Stadium as teams battle for the remaining spots in the Round of 16.
The day’s action kicks off at 12:30 as Nampundwe face Mikalile in what is expected to be a tightly contested encounter. Both sides will be eager to seize their opportunity and advance in the competition.
Later in the afternoon, Zambezi Portland go head-to-head with Real Nakonde at 15:00 in another crucial preliminary tie.
Meanwhile, Friday and Saturday’s results have already shaped the narrative of this year’s competition, with several teams delivering standout performances to secure qualification.
From Central Province, Forest Myooye produced one of the most dominant displays so far, thrashing Barotse Crocs 5-0 to book their place in the Round of 16. The emphatic victory underlines their intent to be more than just participants in this year’s tournament.
At the same venue in Kabwe, Play It Forward FC also secured progression with a commanding 3-0 win over Mathkat. The match took a decisive turn when Mathkat were reduced to ten men, but despite their resilience, they struggled to cope with the relentless attacking pressure.
In another closely fought contest, Mushitala FC edged Teta FC 1-0 in a tense encounter. Both sides displayed determination and discipline, but Mushitala managed to find the crucial breakthrough to seal qualification.
With several teams already through and others still battling for a place in the next round, the ABSA Cup continues to highlight the depth and competitiveness of Zambian football. Sunday’s fixtures will complete the preliminary round picture, setting the stage for an exciting Round of 16.
