2025 Absa Cup Participants Confirmed: All Teams Announced

The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has officially confirmed the 21 teams that will participate in the 2025 Absa Cup, Zambiaโ€™s premier knockout football competition. This yearโ€™s tournament will feature a blend of top-tier teams from the MTN Super League, ZPL National League, and Provincial Division One leagues, making it one of the most diverse editions in recent years.

The competition, known for producing thrilling encounters and unexpected upsets, will see seven Super League teams, four National League teams, and ten Provincial Division One representatives battle for supremacy.

The seven representatives from the MTN Super League include some of Zambiaโ€™s most dominant clubs, all aiming to lift the prestigious trophy:

  • Zesco United (Ndola) โ€“ A powerhouse of Zambian football and multiple-time league champions.
  • Kabwe Warriors (Kabwe) โ€“ One of Zambiaโ€™s oldest clubs, looking to make an impact.
  • Nkana (Kitwe) โ€“ A team with a rich history and a record 13 league titles.
  • Power Dynamos (Kitwe) โ€“ The defending MTN Super League champions, aiming to add more silverware.
  • Red Arrows (Lusaka) โ€“ A top contender, bringing experience and quality to the tournament.
  • Green Eagles (Choma) โ€“ Known for their defensive resilience and disciplined play.
  • Green Buffaloes (Lusaka) โ€“ A well-structured side looking to make a statement.

  • Prison Leopards (Kabwe) โ€“ A side looking to prove their worth on the big stage.
  • Mpulungu Harbour (Mpulungu) โ€“ The surprise package from Northern Zambia.

  • Northern โ€“ Teta FC (Kasama)
  • Northwestern โ€“ Solwezi Academy (Solwezi)
  • Southern โ€“ Bartโ€™s FC (Choma)
  • Western โ€“ Nangweshi Pirates (Senanga)

These teams will be looking to cause major upsets against more established opponents and make a name for themselves in Zambian football.
