Zambia Faces Tough Challenge in Group F at AFCON 2023
The Zambia National Team is set to face a formidable challenge in Group F at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023. This follows the draw held on Thursday evening at the spectacular Parc des Expositions venue in Abidjan.
In Group F, Zambia will lock horns with the talented squad from Morocco. Interestingly, these two teams have crossed paths before, having been drawn in the same group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Additionally, Zambia will face neighbors DR Congo, a two-time champion who defeated them in the 1974 final. Completing the group is Tanzania, an East African side that has yet to advance beyond the group stage in the continental championship.
Zambia secured their spot in this prestigious tournament on match day 5 with a resounding 3-0 victory over Ivory Coast at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. They finished atop Group H with 13 points, surpassing AFCON hosts Ivory Coast, Comoros, and Lesotho.

The tournament will be hosted in five cities, with Abidjan hosting Group A and B. Other host cities include Yamoussoukro, Bouake, Korhogo, and San Pedro.
The draw has set the stage for an exciting competition, and Zambia will be looking to make a strong impact in Group F as they aim to secure their place among the top teams in African football. The path to glory in AFCON 2023 promises to be both challenging and thrilling for the Copper Bullets. Football fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the action that awaits in Côte d’Ivoire.
