Zambia Delivers Commanding 3-0 Victory Over Uganda
In a friendly international match that showcased football at its best, Zambia secured a convincing 3-0 victory against Uganda. Both teams entered the contest on the heels of 1-0 losses in their previous matches, seeking to regain their winning ways.
Under the guidance of coach Avram Grant, Zambia made some strategic changes, introducing Edward Chilufya, Golden Mafwenta, and Zephaniah Phiri into the lineup. Their dynamic presence would prove pivotal in the match.
The Copper Bullets didn’t waste any time asserting their dominance. Within the first five minutes, they earned a penalty after a foul on Klings Kangwa. Patson Daka stepped up to the spot and dispatched the penalty with composure, opening the scoring for Zambia.
Zambia continued to apply pressure and create opportunities. Fashion Sakala, however, missed a prime chance to extend the lead in the 14th minute, letting a golden opportunity slip through his fingers.
Francis Mwansa, the goalkeeper for Zambia, played a crucial role in maintaining the lead, making a remarkable save to deny Uganda’s Khalid Aucho.
The first half concluded with Zambia leading 1-0.
Returning for the second half, Zambia displayed remarkable purpose. Fashion Sakala aimed to make amends for his earlier miss, but he failed to capitalize on an excellent opportunity.
Nonetheless, Zambia found the net in the 63rd minute, with Fashion Sakala heading in a beautiful cross from Zephaniah Phiri. Just five minutes later, Phiri, making his Chipolopolo debut, played a pivotal role once again, assisting Patson Daka for his second goal of the match with a brilliant header, securing a 3-0 lead.
Coach Grant made several substitutions, introducing fresh players, as Zambia controlled the final minutes of the match with exceptional ball movement and possession.
