2023/24 CAF champions League preliminary draw finally out

The draw for preliminary rounds of CAF champions league is out. A total of 54 teams from the 42 member associations will be participating in this year’s league.

A draw which took place in Egypt will see teams parading in the Fields from 18th -20th August 2023 for the 1st leg matches and 25th-27th August 2023 for 2nd leg matches.

Among the notable teams in the draw is the Zambian champions, Power Dynamos which will face African Stars FC from Namibia in which winner from the two will face Simba SC from Tanzania.

Another interesting match will be between the South African Buccaneers Club and Djabal FC d’iconi club from Comoros where the winner will possibly clash with Jwaneng galaxy from Botswana and Vipers SC from Uganda While the Malawian based champions Nyasa big bullets club will play against Dragon FC from Equatorial Guinea in the first leg preliminary round.

The CAF Champions League, often referred to as the African Champions League, is an annual football club competition organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). It is the most prestigious club competition in Africa, with the winner qualifying for the FIFA Club World Cup.

The competition is open to the top football clubs from CAF’s member associations, with teams qualifying through their domestic leagues or cup competitions. The number of teams participating in the competition varies from year to year.

Egyptian club Al Ahly is the most successful team in the competition’s history, having won it a recordĀ  of more than 10 times. They are followed by fellow Egyptian club Zamalek, who have won the competition five times.
