Spain Beat France to Reach 2026 FIFA World Cup Final

Spain booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final after a commanding 2-0 victory over France in Tuesday night’s semi-final at Dallas Stadium.

Goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro sealed a deserved victory for Luis de la Fuente’s side, who produced another disciplined display to eliminate one of the tournament favourites and move within one win of lifting the World Cup trophy.

The result also extended Spain’s outstanding defensive record, with La Roja keeping their sixth clean sheet in seven matches at the tournament.

Oyarzabal Breaks the Deadlock

Spain controlled possession from the opening whistle and were rewarded midway through the first half.

Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal won a penalty after being brought down inside the area, allowing Mikel Oyarzabal to calmly convert from the spot in the 22nd minute to hand Spain a deserved lead.

Yamal thought he had doubled the advantage later in the half, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

France, led by Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé and Michael Olise, struggled to break down Spain’s well-organised defence.

Porro Seals the Victory

Spain continued to dictate proceedings after the break and eventually doubled their advantage in the 58th minute.

Following a slick passing move involving Dani Olmo, right-back Pedro Porro burst forward before finishing clinically to put the match beyond France.

Despite France introducing fresh attacking options, Spain comfortably managed the closing stages to secure another impressive victory.

Spain One Step Away

The win sends Spain into the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between England and Argentina.

Spain have now gone 37 matches unbeaten since March 2024 and continue to underline their credentials as one of the world’s strongest teams under Luis de la Fuente.

For France, the defeat ends hopes of reaching a third consecutive FIFA World Cup final, forcing Didier Deschamps’ side to settle for the third-place play-off.
