Zambia National team defensive midfielder Salulani Phiri has apologised for his unsporting behaviour he exhibited during the Week 22 match between Zanaco FC against Prison Leopards, the match ended in favor of the visitors side prison with the scoreline of 0-2.
Here is the statement from the player ,
I would like to take full responsibility for my bad behaviour during the soccer match between Zanaco FC versus Prison Leopards. Though it was in the heat of the movement, I should have acted professionally like I have always done in my previous years for this game I love. said salulani
He continued It was an embarrassing act to my family, my club, to the referee, the opposing side Leopards, FAZ and all the fans that always turn up in numbers which I regret and I must work on it and it will not happen again. If you look at my track record on and off the pitch, it has been exemplary both at National team level and club level, been shown red cards by referee and that kind of behaviour does not represent my personality and the values which I stand for such as discipline and hard work. I promise to exercise self control in future and continue to play at high level and with the right altitude and good behaviour. Please accept my apology and I will understand if fines and penalties are imposed due to my behaviour. I am truly sorry.
