Prison Leopards Applauded for Securing 2025 ABSA Cup Qualification
Prison Leopards Football Club has been widely applauded after securing their place in the prestigious 2025 ABSA Cup alongside three other National Division One League teams—Konkola Blades, Mpulungu Harbour, and Kansanshi Dynamos. Their commendable performance in the first half of the season has been pivotal in this achievement, earning praise from club chairman Bob Shaloba.
The Correctional Boys, as they are fondly called, showcased consistency and resilience throughout the first round of the National Division One League, finishing with 33 points and sitting comfortably in third place. This strong start has guaranteed them an opportunity to face top-tier clubs from the MTN Super League when the ABSA Cup commences.
Chairman Bob Shaloba expressed gratitude towards the team, applauding their dedication and hard work. “I want to congratulate the players for their stellar performance so far, but this is just the beginning. We must remain focused and not relax,” Shaloba said. His words underscore the importance of maintaining momentum as the team heads into the second half of the season.
The ABSA Cup, known for its competitiveness, features four teams from the National Division One League and seven from the MTN Super League, offering a rare platform for clubs to showcase their talents on a national scale. For Prison Leopards, this qualification signifies a significant milestone and an opportunity to assert their dominance further.
With eyes now set on the upcoming fixtures, Prison Leopards will look to sustain their form as they gear up for an even more challenging phase. Their journey in the ABSA Cup will not only boost morale but also strengthen the team’s resolve to push for promotion in the league.
“I am delighted with the team’s achievement in the first round; qualifying for the Absa Cup is a significant milestone. But it’s not time to relax. We must keep our heads up and focus on achieving our primary objective for the season-earning promotion back to the Super League,” said the club chairman.
The Leopards are looking to maintain their fine form in their quest to earn promotion to the Super League.
