Nkana Sack Chipepo & Katongo After Tough Campaign

Nkana FC have officially confirmed the departure of head coach Mwenya Chipepo and first assistant coach Christopher Katongo after both parties mutually agreed to part ways.

The club announced that the current interim technical structure will continue overseeing football operations until further notice.

Nkana thanked both Chipepo and Katongo for their contribution and service to the 13-time Zambian champions and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Chipepo endured a difficult 2025/26 MTN Super League campaign during his time in charge at Nkana. After the opening eight league matches, the Kitwe giants had failed to register a single victory, recording four draws and four defeats while scoring just one goal and collecting only four points.

The poor start left Nkana hovering around the relegation zone, an unfamiliar position for one of Zambia’s most successful football clubs.

In March 2026, Nkana management placed Chipepo and Katongo on paid administrative leave following growing pressure from supporters over the club’s performances. Former assistant coach Elijah Tana was then elevated to Interim Head Coach in a bid to stabilize the team.

The decision now signals the end of Chipepo and Katongo’s tenure at Nkana as the club looks ahead to rebuilding and restoring stability ahead of the next phase of the season.
