MTN Super League Week 30 Preview: Relegation Battle Intensify
Matchweek 30 of the Zambian Super League arrives with high stakes at both ends of the table, as the title race tightens and the relegation fight becomes more defined.
League leaders Power Dynamos, sitting on 64 points after 28 matches, will headline the round with a tough home fixture against Zanaco FC at Arthur Davies Stadium. With a 10-point cushion over second-placed Red Arrows Football Club, Dynamos are firmly in control but cannot afford complacency.
Red Arrows, who remain the closest challengers, host Konkola Blades at Nkoloma Stadium, knowing anything less than victory could effectively hand the title initiative to Power Dynamos.
In third place, Mufulira Wanderers face Mutondo Stars, aiming to consolidate their top-three position and maintain pressure on the teams above them.
The mid-table battle remains tightly packed. Green Eagles take on Green Buffaloes in a fixture that could influence positions around the CAF qualification spots, while FC MUZA host Kansanshi Dynamos in Mazabuka.
Attention will also be on the Copperbelt, where Nchanga Rangers meet Nkwezi FC, both sides seeking consistency after mixed recent form.
At the bottom end, the pressure continues to mount. Mines United, rooted to the foot of the table, face a difficult test against Kabwe Warriors, while FC Leopards travel to face ZESCO United amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding ZESCO’s league status.
One of the standout fixtures comes on Thursday, where Napsa Stars host Nkana FC at REIZ Arena. Nkana, currently in the lower half of the table, are still searching for consistency in what has been an underwhelming campaign by their standards.
With only a handful of games remaining, every point is critical. The title race appears to be leaning toward Power Dynamos, but mathematically it remains open, while the relegation zone continues to tighten with several teams still at risk.
Week 30 could prove decisive in shaping the final stretch of the 2025/26 season.
