Nkana Football Club has confirmed the departure of five players as the Kitwe giants begin restructuring their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The record 13-time Zambian champions announced on Monday that defender Dieugo Apanane, midfielder Joe Wallace Banda and striker Idriss Mbombo will leave the club following the expiration of their contracts.
Loan Players Return
Nkana also confirmed that goalkeeper Patrick Chooma and midfielder Francis Zulu have returned to their respective parent clubs following the conclusion of their loan spells.
The departures mark the first significant changes to the squad as the club prepares for a new campaign.
Club Pays Tribute
In a statement, Nkana thanked all five players for their contributions and professionalism during their time at the club.
“Nkana FC would like to thank all five players for their contribution and service during their time at the club and wishes them the very best in their future undertakings.”
The club acknowledged the role each player played and wished them success in the next stage of their careers.
More Changes Expected
The departures are expected to be the beginning of a busy transfer window for Kalampa as the club seeks to strengthen its squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Following an inconsistent campaign, supporters will be hoping the club can make the right additions as it looks to challenge for honours and return to competing at the highest level.
Nkana has indicated that further updates regarding squad preparations will be communicated in due course.
Conclusion
With five players already heading out of the door, Nkana’s rebuilding process is officially underway.
The focus now shifts to who the club brings in as Kalampa prepares for what supporters hope will be a much stronger campaign next season.
