Kundananji Fires Warning Before Nigeria Showdown

Copper Queens forward Racheal Kundananji has declared that Zambia is fully prepared for their decisive 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) Group C clash against Nigeria, revealing that the team has been planning for the Super Falcons ever since the tournament draw was conducted.

Speaking ahead of one of the biggest matches of Zambia’s campaign, the Bay FC striker said the atmosphere in camp is positive, with every player aware of the importance of the encounter.

“The morale is high in camp and the team is ready. We understand it is not an easy task. It is a game that will determine both teams’ fate, a game that will make everything either easier or tougher. It won’t be an easy game, but we are looking forward to it and ready to do our best,” Kundananji said.

The Zambian star believes preparation and mentality will be the key factors rather than Nigeria’s reputation as one of Africa’s most successful women’s football nations.

“We all know it is not going to be an easy game. We just need to be prepared. It doesn’t matter how strong your opponents are; what matters is the approach. We have been preparing for this game since the day we were drawn in the group. It’s not new to us, and we know what Nigeria are capable of,” she added.

Kundananji also paid tribute to the unwavering support the Copper Queens have received from fans throughout their journey and called on Zambians to continue rallying behind the team.

“The fans should continue being supportive as they have always been. We have come a long way together through both the good and the bad times, and they have always been there for us,” she said.

With confidence high and preparations complete, the Copper Queens head into the highly anticipated showdown determined to secure a positive result against the nine-time African champions and strengthen their bid for a place in the WAFCON knockout stages.
