Ivy Nambeye Heads to India for Injury Treatment After Stellar Super League Debut
Nchanga Rangers Queens forward Ivy Nambeye has traveled to India for specialized medical treatment following a season-ending injury she sustained during the second round of the 2024/2025 Eden University Women’s Super League. The 20-year-old striker left for India on Wednesday evening, with her club confirming its full support for her recovery.
Nambeye had enjoyed a sensational debut season, quickly rising to prominence as one of the most clinical finishers in the league. Her goal-scoring prowess was unmatched early in the campaign, becoming the first player to score 20 goals this season, and emerging as a front-runner for the Golden Boot award.
However, her campaign was cut short by injury during the latter stages of the season, halting her momentum at a crucial point in the title race. In her absence, Penelope Mulubwa surged past Nambeye to eventually clinch the Golden Boot with a commanding 35-goal haul.

Despite missing the final stretch of the season, Nambeye’s contribution to Nchanga Rangers Queens cannot be understated. Her goals were crucial in keeping the team competitive and her performances earned her praise from fans and pundits alike.
The club’s decision to send her abroad for treatment underscores their commitment to her long-term health and future. A statement from within the club highlighted their dedication:
“Ivy’s health and career are a top priority. She gave everything for the badge this season, and we are committed to supporting her full recovery.”
As Nambeye begins her recovery journey in India, Nchanga Rangers Queens and Zambian football fans alike will be hopeful for her swift return to action. Her presence on the pitch will surely be missed, but her story continues to inspire many young girls dreaming of making their mark in football.
