Green Eagles Complete Signing of Goalkeeper Mangani Banda

MTN Super League side Green Eagles have completed the signing of Goalkeeper of the Year Mangani “Gigi” Banda, beating off competition from fellow top-flight clubs ZESCO United and NAPSA Stars.

The former Zambia Under-20 international has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Kawale Boys, bringing an end to his successful spell at Kabwe Warriors.

Eagles Beat Off Strong Competition

Green Eagles were the first club to express interest in Banda and have now successfully secured the services of one of the country’s finest goalkeepers.

Although ZESCO United and NAPSA Stars were both keen to sign the shot-stopper, it is the Choma-based outfit that has won the race after Banda’s proposed move to ZESCO United failed to materialise.

His arrival represents a significant boost for head coach Perry Mutapa as Green Eagles continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Reward for an Outstanding Season

Banda joins Green Eagles after enjoying a sensational 2025/26 season with Kabwe Warriors.

The 28-year-old produced a string of outstanding performances, keeping 17 clean sheets to finish as the league’s best goalkeeper and earn the MTN Super League Goalkeeper of the Year award.

His consistency, commanding presence and crucial saves made him one of the standout performers in the division.

Straight Into Pre-Season Preparations

The goalkeeper has wasted no time linking up with his new teammates and has already joined the Green Eagles squad travelling to South Africa for their pre-season training camp.

The camp will provide Banda with the perfect opportunity to integrate into Perry Mutapa’s squad as preparations intensify for the upcoming transitional season.

A Major Statement Signing

Signing one of the league’s most consistent goalkeepers signals Green Eagles’ ambitions ahead of the new campaign.

With Banda between the posts, the Kawale Boys have added proven quality and experience to their squad as they look to challenge strongly in the MTN Super League.
