Francisco Mwepu Scores Late Equalizer on Debut for Cádiz
Congratulations to Francisco Mwepu! The 24-year-old Zambian forward made a spectacular impact in his debut for Cádiz, scoring a crucial equalizer in the 95th minute to salvage a point for his team in a thrilling Week 3 fixture of the Spanish Segunda Division against Tenerife.
Cádiz faced a tough challenge as Tenerife took control of the match early on. The visitors opened the scoring in the 26th minute through midfielder Youssouf Diarra, putting Cádiz on the back foot. Tenerife doubled their lead in the 54th minute, with Luismi Cruz finding the back of the net, seemingly securing a comfortable advantage.
However, Cádiz showed incredible resilience, refusing to go down without a fight. The comeback began in the 74th minute when Álex Fernández converted a penalty to reduce the deficit. As the clock ticked down, Cádiz continued to push for an equalizer.
Mwepu, who came on as a substitute in the 81st minute, proved to be the hero of the day. In the dying moments of the match, he found himself in the right place at the right time, scoring a dramatic goal in the 95th minute to level the score at 2-2. His debut goal not only secured a valuable point for Cádiz but also showcased his ability to deliver in high-pressure situations.
This performance by Mwepu is a promising start to his journey with Cádiz, and it certainly bodes well for his future contributions to the team. His late heroics have already endeared him to the Cádiz faithful, and Zambian fans have another reason to be proud as one of their own makes waves on the European stage.
Well done, Francisco Mwepu! Here’s to many more goals and successful performances in Spain!
