The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the success of Ntopwa FC as they prepare for their debut participation in the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifier in Durban, South Africa.
FAM has provided Ntopwa Queens with comprehensive backing that includes local camping and transportation in South Africa, totaling an impressive K13 million.
Furthermore FAM has provided a free full board accommodation for a period of two weeks at Mpira Village, a testament to their commitment to nurturing the growth and potential of Malawi’s women’s football champions. The value of this accommodation, amounting to K11 million, underscores FAM’s dedication to providing the best possible environment for Ntopwa FC to thrive and succeed on the international stage.
With a delegation consisting of 30 players and seven officials, the team entered into a camp and will leave on Sunday, August 27, 2023. This preparation period serves as a crucial opportunity for the team to bond, refine their strategies, and focus on their performance ahead of the challenging tournament which will commence from 30 August to September 8, 2023.
Speaking to the Media,Ntopwa FC’s owner, Jomo Osman, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the remarkable efforts made by the Football Association of Malawi.”We would like to thank FAM for the gesture and we don’t take their support for granted. We will work hard and give our best at the tournament” he said.
As Ntopwa FC enters the tournament, they find themselves placed in Group A alongside notable contenders such as last year’s champions Green Buffaloes from Zambia, Double Action Ladies from Botswana, and Lesotho Defence Force.
