Felix Phiri Completes Move to FC Alashkert in Armenian
Zambian football has received another major boost on the international stage following the confirmation that highly-rated midfielder Felix Phiri has completed a move to Armenian Premier League side FC Alashkert on a four-year contract.
Phiri, a product of Lusaka Youth Academy and a standout performer in the Provisional League, makes a remarkable leap from Lusaka to European football at a young age. The move underlines his rapid rise and growing reputation as one of Zambia’s most exciting emerging midfield talents.
The Under-17 national team midfielder described the transfer as a life-changing moment, expressing gratitude to those who played a key role in making the deal possible.
“A dream come true,” Phiri said. “Thanks to Linus Kaputa and Nir Karin for making this happen.”
The transfer was facilitated by international FIFA agent Nir Karin, who has been instrumental in opening doors for young African talents in Europe. Karin believes the Armenian league will provide Phiri with the right platform to develop and attract attention from bigger markets.
“I am very happy for this young boy and I’m sure he will make it big time,” Karin said. “Armenia will be only his stepping stone to bigger places. It is a special deal for me because I know this club and its great owner for many years.”
Phiri’s move marks Lusaka Youth Academy’s second international transfer, following the earlier departure of Mannah Chiwisa to Italian Serie A side Atalanta. The academy’s growing track record continues to position it as a key talent development hub in Zambian football.
Lusaka Youth Academy proprietor Mr Linus Kaputa could not hide his excitement over Phiri’s breakthrough, describing the midfielder as a player destined for the top.
“He is a great player with a bright future,” Kaputa said. “Seeing our boys progress to Europe is proof that the work we are doing at the academy is bearing fruit.”
Felix Phiri is expected to link up with FC Alashkert ahead of the new Armenian Premier League campaign, where he will be looking to adapt quickly and begin his journey in European football. His move not only represents personal success but also serves as inspiration for young Zambian players aspiring to compete on the global stage.
With Zambian talents increasingly securing pathways to Europe, Phiri’s transfer further reinforces the country’s growing reputation as a source of technically gifted and disciplined footballers.
