Elite Ladies FC Contest Xiomara Mapepa’s Transfer to Galatasaray
Elite Ladies FC, a Zambian football club, has raised objections regarding the purported transfer of their player, Xiomara Mapepa, to Turkish giants Galatasaray. The club disputes the legality of the transfer, claiming that Mapepa remains under contract with them until May 31st, 2025, despite reports of her joining Galatasaray as a free agent.
In response to media reports indicating Mapepa’s inclusion in Galatasaray’s squad, Elite Ladies FC took to social media to assert their position. They stated that Mapepa’s move to Turkey was made without their knowledge and emphasized that she is not a free agent but is still contracted to their club.
Elite Ladies FC expressed their surprise at the situation, indicating that they had no record of Mapepa terminating her contract. Furthermore, they alleged that the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) did not inform them of any contract termination. The club raised concerns about the possibility of Mapepa’s transfer occurring without proper authorization from FAZ.

Asserting their rights, Elite Ladies FC demanded a transfer fee of no less than $10,000 and compensation for what they termed an “illegal transfer.” They expressed confidence in FAZ’s leadership to address the matter appropriately and ensure that the club receives due compensation for the player’s transfer.
The club’s stance underscores their commitment to upholding contractual agreements and protecting their interests in player transfers. Elite Ladies FC expects FAZ and FIFA to resolve the dispute fairly and uphold the integrity of contractual obligations within football transfers.
