Catherine Phiri suspended from boxing activities for using a prohibited drug

Zambian Boxer Catherine Phiri has been suspended for 2 years from any boxing activities by the World Boxing council for using a prohibited substance prior to her last fight with Zimbabwe’s Kundakwashe Chiwedire.

Catherine has admitted using Furosemide drug for “body slimming” purposes and says she did not know it was prohibited and has since apologized to all boxing fans.

Catherine added  that she did not mean to use the drug to enhance her performance in a fight which she lost.

The boxer who was being tipped to retire will now be away from the ring for the next 2 years after being found guilty of violating the WBC’s Anti-doping rules.
