Buildcon coach Nchimunya Mweetwa 'smells’ maiden victory

BUILDCON coach Nchimunya Mweetwa believes his team is not far from registering their first win of the season after putting up a spirited fight in a Ndola derby loss to Zesco United.

Basement side Buildcon have not won a single match in the 11 games played so far this season. Zesco overcame them 3-2 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium though Buildcon deserved at least a point after putting up a virtuoso performance.

Mweetwa said going by how the team is playing, a win is looming. “We are looking for a win, we have played, I think, this is our 11th game and we have not won, not even a single game. It is difficult when you are moving on a losing streak.

It is difficult to have the confidence but every game we come with a positive mind because every game is a different ball game altogether,” he said.

Mweetwa said his team had taken a lot of positives from the derby defeat. “We were not outplayed, that is the positive, and if you see how we played against Napsa [in the] last game, even coach Perry [Mutapa] asked how come we lose games when we are able to play like that, but football, sometimes, it is cruel and you have to play it. If you are beaten, you are beaten, and if you win, you win,” he said. Mweetwa was appointed at the start of the season. Buildcon have managed two draws and nine losses.

The Ndola side have the worst defence in the Super League, having conceded 25 goals in 11
matches.
