Zesco Ndola Girls captain Avell Chitundu has written her name into the history books, becoming the first player in the 2025/26 Eden University Women’s Super League to score in four consecutive matches a feat unmatched by any other player this season. Her blistering form has also propelled her to the top of the league’s goal-scoring chart with eight goals, two ahead of Red Arrows winger Mary Mambwe.
Chitundu’s latest strike came in dramatic fashion, scoring an 88th-minute winner in a 1-0 away victory over Zanaco Ladies at Sunset Stadium. Remarkably, this milestone comes shortly after her return from injury sustained during the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA Qualifiers, proving her resilience and leadership.
Her current scoring streak began on 2 October against Trident Queens (3–0 win), followed by goals in a 6–0 demolition of Nchanga Rangers, a brace against Konkola Blades in a 4–1 away win, and finally the late winner against Zanaco. The only match she featured in without scoring this season was a 2-1 win over Amazing Grace FC — making her impact nearly faultless.

You’ve made history as the first player to score in four straight games this season. How does it feel?
“I feel so good.”
Which goal in this run meant the most to you?
“The goal against Zanaco. We really needed it because the game was not easy, and scoring late helped us secure maximum points.”
What’s been the biggest factor behind your consistency — training, confidence, team chemistry?
“Training and teamwork.”
How do you handle the pressure of delivering every game?
“I take every game as it comes.”
How important has your team been in achieving this milestone?
“I’m proud to be scoring, but it’s all down to the team. I can’t do it without them.”
What’s your message to young girls looking up to you?
“Discipline on and off the pitch. Focus during training.”
With eight goals in five games played, Avell Chitundu is not just captaining Zesco Ndola Girls, she’s carrying them toward title contention with unmatched consistency. If her current form continues, Zambia could be witnessing one of the most dominant Super League campaigns in recent memory.
