Aguila Stars Launch Women’s Football Team
The winds of change are blowing through Lusaka’s football landscape as Aguila Stars Football Club has officially unveiled its women’s side Aguila Stars Women Football Club (ASWFC).
Born out of a direct transition from Rising Stars, who plied their trade in the 2nd Division last season, ASWFC is set to make its competitive debut in the Lusaka Province Division 1 Women’s League, which kicks off this weekend.
In what was more than just a warm-up, ASWFC locked horns with the FAZ U17 Women’s National Team in a friendly encounter that provided both a stern test and a glimpse of their potential. The clash served as an ideal preparation for the challenges of the league season ahead.
The launch of ASWFC is not merely about adding another team to the league tables. For Aguila Stars, this is a bold declaration of their mission: creating meaningful opportunities for young people to develop and showcase their God-given talents.
By investing in women’s football, Aguila Stars are championing inclusivity, community empowerment, and holistic player development. It’s a vision that mirrors the transformation seen globally, where women’s football is breaking barriers and gaining long-overdue recognition.
Just like their men’s side, the women’s team will be anchored by the club’s five core values Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Ambition, and Humility. These are not just words on a banner, but principles that will shape the team’s culture both on and off the pitch.
Aguila Stars firmly believe in the power of sport to transform lives, and the launch of ASWFC is a statement of intent: sustainable growth, equal opportunities, and nurturing talent across all levels of the game.
With this milestone, Aguila Stars are writing a new chapter in their story one that empowers girls, strengthens communities, and contributes to the continued rise of Zambian football.
