Zanaco Coach Numba Calls for Fight as Kansanshi Dynamos Visit Sunset Stadium

Zanaco FC head coach Numba has warned his side to expect a difficult encounter when they face Kansanshi Dynamos FC in their Week 5 fixture of the 2026 Transitional League at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday.

The Bankers head into the match under pressure to secure their first home victory of the campaign after failing to collect maximum points in their opening two home fixtures. Numba believes Kansanshi Dynamos’ recent victory over Konkola Blades makes them a dangerous opponent, with the result likely to have boosted their confidence ahead of the meeting.

“It’s another tricky encounter that we have ahead of us,” Numba said. “We are playing Kansanshi Dynamos who are coming from a victory against Konkola Blades, and this is what makes this game very tricky, especially that they are motivated beating a team that is on top of the log.”

The Zanaco coach acknowledged that his team faces added pressure to deliver a positive result, particularly with supporters and sponsors expecting an improved performance at home.

“For us, this puts us a bit under pressure, looking at the two games that we have played at home where we’ve not collected maximum points,” he explained. “This time around, the pressure is on us to make sure that we fight hard so that at least we put a smile on our fans and our sponsors.”

To improve their chances, Numba revealed that the technical bench has conducted research on Kansanshi Dynamos, reviewing their recent matches to identify their strengths and weaknesses and prepare an appropriate game plan.

“In terms of preparations, we have to prepare looking at the opponent that we are meeting. We’ve done a bit of homework by doing some research and watching the games that Kansanshi have played recently, so that at least we have a bit of insight which makes it easy for us to plan,” he said.

Kansanshi Dynamos arrive in Lusaka after a 2-1 victory over Konkola Blades, while Zanaco are coming off a 1-1 draw in their previous outing. Both teams have four points after four weeks of action, with Zanaco occupying fifth position and Kansanshi Dynamos sixth, separated by goal difference.

Saturday’s meeting therefore presents both sides with an opportunity to improve their position on the table. For Zanaco, however, the immediate task will be to turn their home performances into a victory and respond to the expectations of their supporters.

With Numba emphasising the importance of preparation and determination, the Bankers will need to deliver on the pitch against a Kansanshi Dynamos side eager to build on its latest win.
