Zambian defender Chitoshi Chinga enjoyed a solid debut for Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants CAPS United, helping them to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over fifth-placed Scotland FC in a Week 19 clash on Sunday afternoon.
The crucial win lifted Ian Bakala’s side to 10th position on the log with 23 points, signaling renewed hope for a stronger second half of the 2025 PSL season.
Mugalu Strikes Early to Seal the Win
The match’s only goal came courtesy of another former MTN Super League striker , Chris Mugalu, who recently completed a move from Forest Rangers. The striker made an instant impact, finding the net within the opening minutes to hand Makepekepe all three points.
Mugalu’s sharp finish ensured CAPS United’s dominance translated into scoreboard pressure, and Chitoshi Chinga’s presence in defence helped the team hold on despite late pressure from the visitors.
Bakala Praises Execution and Work Rate
Speaking after the match, head coach Ian Bakala—also a former Chipolopolo midfielder—was full of praise for his charges:
“I credit most of the players. I think they performed very well according to how we planned, and I actually saw it coming through our training sessions,” Bakala said.
He acknowledged that while a few mistakes crept in, the team showed the focus and drive necessary to secure the result.
“It was a good game overall. The players worked hard, stayed focused, and deserved the win.”
What’s Next?
CAPS United will look to build on this result when they return to action next Sunday against Triangle United. All eyes will again be on Chinga and Mugalu, who seem poised to become key figures in Makepekepe’s campaign revival.
