Kansanshi Dynamos head to Mazabuka for a decisive Week 30 MTN Super League encounter against FC MUZA, with both sides targeting valuable points as the season enters a critical phase.
The Mabanga Boys make the trip following their recent setback against ZESCO United, and will be eager to bounce back on the road. The reverse fixture between the two teams ended in a goalless draw, underlining how evenly matched this contest has been in recent seasons.
From a table perspective, the stakes are significant. FC MUZA sit 8th with 42 points, positioning themselves comfortably in mid-table and still within reach of a strong finish. In contrast, Kansanshi Dynamos are 13th on 32 points, just above the relegation zone, making every point crucial in their bid for survival. A positive result in Mazabuka could create breathing room, while defeat would intensify pressure heading into the final stretch.
Assistant coach Dennis Makinka is under no illusions about the challenge ahead, describing MUZA as a technically sound and fearless side.
“They are a team that enjoys playing and they are not under pressure, which makes them difficult to face. They are comfortable on the ball and not afraid to take risks,” Makinka said.
Despite the recent loss, Makinka highlighted the benefit of an extended preparation period, noting improvements in structure and movement during training.
“We’ve had about eight to nine days to prepare, and the players are looking ready. Our movement is improving, and we expect to be better in this match.”
A key tactical focus for Kansanshi has been ball retention, with the technical bench aiming to improve control in midfield as a foundation for better performances.
“Our aim is to keep the ball well. We’ve improved in that aspect over the last few games, and we want to continue with that approach,” he added.
Historically, this fixture has been tightly contested. Kansanshi Dynamos have enjoyed success in previous meetings, particularly during the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons where they secured multiple wins. However, FC MUZA have also proven capable of edging results, and the goalless draw earlier this season reflects the fine margins between the two sides.
With contrasting motivations — MUZA pushing for a strong top-half finish and Kansanshi battling to stay clear of relegation trouble — this encounter promises intensity, tactical discipline, and high stakes for both teams.
