Copper Queens Gear Up for International Friendlies with Intense Training

Zambia’s Women’s National Team coach, Bruce Mwape, has been working hard with his local players ahead of their upcoming international friendlies against South Korea next month.

These matches are crucial for the Copper Queens as they prepare for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where they will face tough competition from Spain, Costa Rica, and Japan in Group C of the 32-team tournament to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in July.

The local players are eager to impress Mwape and secure a spot in the final team that will include foreign-based players who are set to join the squad in Seoul next week.

However, Mwape will be without two key defenders, Lushomo Mweemba and Esther Banda, who have been ruled out of the friendlies due to injuries sustained on club and national duty, respectively. Unfortunately, the duo will be out of action for six weeks.

Despite these setbacks, Mwape is confident that his team will perform well and hopes that the friendlies against South Korea will provide them with valuable experience and help them fine-tune their strategies and tactics ahead of the World Cup.
