Buildcon demoted to Provincial League Over Statute breaches

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has decided to demote Buildcon to the Provincial League for the upcoming 2023/24 season due to several violations of Football Association of Zambia (FAZ)and FIFA regulations.

This means that Buildcon FC won’t be able to participate in the National Division One league this season. This action comes after Buildcon had previously faced penalties and was even removed from the FIFA registration system for not following player transfer and compensation rules.

Reuben Kamanga, FAZ’s General Secretary, highlighted that Buildcon’s suspension is a result of their failure to adhere to the rules outlined in Article 13 and 18 of the FAZ constitution, which lays out the responsibilities of its members.

As preparations for the new season move forward, FAZ is dedicated to ensuring that member clubs meet the necessary club licensing requirements. Kamanga also emphasized FAZ’s strong stance against any incidents of hooliganism in stadiums.

The 2023/24 football season is set to kick off on August 12 with an exciting match between Power Dynamos and Forest Rangers in the CarsbergĀ  Black Label Charity Shield, taking place at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. FAZ will decide if a replacement team will be chosen to take Buildcon’s place in the league.
