"A Dream Come True” – Francis Banda Reacts to Maiden Chipolopolo Call-Up

Rising midfielder Francis Banda has described his first senior national team call-up as a defining moment in his career, following his inclusion in the Zambia national football team squad for the upcoming Four Nations Tournament in Botswana.

Speaking exclusively to Bola Yapa Zed, Banda expressed deep emotion and gratitude after achieving a long-held ambition.

“I am very happy to receive my first national team call-up. It has always been my dream to play for the Chipolopolo, and now it feels like a dream come true,” he said.

The Kabwe Warriors player has been one of the standout performers in the MTN Super League this season, contributing five goals and three assists while operating primarily as an attacking midfielder and right winger. His consistent displays have played a key role in Kabwe Warriors’ strong campaign, with the club currently positioned among the league’s top contenders.

Banda outlined clear personal ambitions as he steps onto the international stage, emphasising his desire to make a lasting impression.

“My personal target is to play the best football, continue being part of the national team, and participate in all tournaments for Zambia.”

He also views the Four Nations Tournament as a critical platform to elevate his career.
“This tournament is a steppingstone for me and an opportunity to showcase my talent and abilities. I pray that everything goes well for me.” Reflecting on the journey, Banda acknowledged the magnitude of the moment.

“I have dedicated myself to reaching this level of football. It is overwhelming because this is something every player dreams about, and it has happened to me. I am very grateful and happy to be here.”
The Chipolopolo squad has already settled in Botswana and held its first training session at the Adansonia Hotel training pitch as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament.

Zambia will kick off their campaign on Saturday, 28 March 2026, with a clash against Malawi national football team, while hosts Zimbabwe national football team will headline the opening fixtures.

For Banda, the upcoming matches represent more than just game time they mark the beginning of what he hopes will be a long and impactful journey in national colours.
