TNM Super League of Malawi Returns with Blockbuster Weekend Fixtures
After a four-month hiatus, the 2025 TNM Super League of Malawi is finally back, ushering in a new season filled with hope, excitement, and ambition. Featuring 16 top-flight teams, the league promises a thrilling start with eight fixtures lined up across the country from Saturday, April 5th to Sunday, April 6th.
The opening weekend showcases Malawi’s football giants, newly promoted hopefuls, and revamped squads, all eager to stamp their authority in the first round of matches. The spotlight will be on Bingu National Stadium, where defending champions Silver Strikers face arch-rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in what promises to be a classic season opener.
Saturday, April 5th: Big Clashes and Derby Drama
⚽ Silver Strikers vs FCB Nyasa Big Bullets – Bingu National Stadium
The opening weekend kicks off with a blockbuster showdown between the reigning champions Silver Strikers and their bitter rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. Silver got the better of Bullets in one of their three meetings last season and will look to repeat that feat. For the Bullets, this is a chance to lay down a marker early and avenge last year’s defeat.
This clash is expected to draw massive crowds and set the tone for the rest of the season.
⚽ Ekhaya FC vs Mighty Tigers – Kamuzu Stadium
New boys Ekhaya FC begin life in the TNM Super League with a Blantyre derby against the experienced Mighty Tigers. Enos Chatama’s side brings youthful energy, complemented by the experience of Emmanuel Saviel and Christopher Gototo, making them one to watch this season.
Ekhaya’s debut in top-flight football couldn’t be more challenging or more exciting, and fans will be watching to see if they can rise to the occasion.
⚽ MAFCO FC vs Chitipa United – Chitowe Stadium
In what could be a closely contested match, MAFCO host Chitipa United, with both teams aiming to move past their inconsistent 2024 performances. Chitipa, having survived relegation on the final day last season, are keen to start stronger this time, while MAFCO aim to prove they can challenge higher up the table.
Sunday, April 6th: Powerhouses and Promising Contenders
⚽ Mighty Wanderers vs Blue Eagles – Kamuzu Stadium
Mighty Wanderers, who finished as runners-up in 2024, begin their campaign against the returning Blue Eagles, now under the leadership of coach Eliah Kananji. With the Wanderers eyeing another title push and the Eagles determined to re-establish themselves in the league, this is set to be one of the weekend’s standout matches.
⚽ Mzuzu City Hammers vs Kamuzu Barracks – Mzuzu Stadium
Mzuzu City Hammers, one of last season’s surprise packages, face Kamuzu Barracks in the north. Coach Steve Nkwinika’s side will aim to build on their impressive fourth-place finish, while Kamuzu Barracks, led by Collins Nkuna, look to rebound from a difficult 2024.
⚽ Creck Sporting vs Dedza Dynamos – Champion Stadium, Mponela
Ambitious Creck Sporting, one of the busiest teams during the transfer window, welcome Dedza Dynamos in Mponela. With several new faces and a renewed sense of purpose, Creck will be hoping to make an early statement.
⚽ Civo United vs Karonga United – Nankhaka Ground
Civo United, a steady presence in the league, host Karonga United in what should be a competitive match. Both teams have top-eight aspirations, making this a critical early encounter.
⚽ Songwe Border United vs Moyale Barracks – Karonga Stadium
Songwe Border United, one of the league’s newcomers, will make their debut against seasoned campaigners Moyale Barracks. With the home crowd behind them, the debutants will be eager to start their top-tier journey with a bang.
The return of the TNM Super League of Malawi brings back the passion, rivalries, and drama that define Malawian football. With heavyweights clashing, newcomers debuting, and fans hungry for action, the 2025 season kicks off in grand fashion.
Expect goals, surprises, and standout performances as the road to the championship begins.
