The CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers for this year have brought together a total of 8 teams, divided into two pools, A and B. These pools are filled with promising and accomplished women’s football clubs from various countries in the COSAFA region With the tournament set to take place from August 30 to September 8 in Durban, South Africa.
In Group A, the Malawi women’s football side, Ntopwa FC which is making a debut into the competition, is set to face strong contenders. Their opponents include the reigning champions from last year, Green Buffaloes from Zambia, the determined Double Action Ladies from Botswana, and the Lesotho Defence Force club.
On the other hand, Group B in the tournament consists of equally formidable teams. Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa, Olympic de Moroni from Comoros, Costa de Sol from Mozambique, and Young Buffaloes from Eswatini are poised to engage in battles on the field.
The tournament will unfold in a round-robin format, ensuring that each team faces every other team within their group. This format will also see the winner of Group A meeting the runner-up in Group B, and vice-versa.
Hopes are high in this edition of the COSAFA qualifiers, as only the club that emerges victorious will advance to CAF women’s Champions League.The continental event is scheduled to take place from November 5th to 19th 2023
