Lushomo Mweemba Joins BIIK Kazygurt in Kazakhstan

Copper Queens defender Lushomo Mweemba has embarked on an exciting new chapter in her football career by signing a one -and-a-half-year contract with BIIK Kazygurt, the 16-time champions of Kazakhstan.

Departing from Green Buffaloes, Mweemba joins the ranks of fellow Zambian players Martha Tembo and Ireen Lungu at the Shymkent-based club.

The move sees Mweemba stepping into a dynamic environment as BIIK Kazygurt prepares for the upcoming Kazakhstani Women’s Cup, scheduled to kick off on May 1, 2024. Among their initial fixtures, the team is set to face tough opponents such as Okzhetpes, Aktobe, Tomiris-Turan led by former Copper Queens captain Catherine Musonda, and Ordabasy.

BIIK Kazygurt has served as a significant platform for several Zambian players in the past, including Racheal Kundananji, Grace Chanda, Prisca Chilufya, and Hellen Chanda, all of whom have made notable contributions to the club’s success.

With Mweemba now part of their roster, she adds her talent and expertise to the club’s pursuit of further achievements in domestic and continental competitions.
