The Zambia women’s national football team will be aiming to bounce back when they face Brazil women’s national football team on Tuesday in their second match of the ongoing FIFA Series tournament.
The encounter is scheduled to kick off at 21:00 local time and 03:00 hours on Wednesday (Zambian time), with Zambia looking to recover from a difficult start following their 4-0 defeat to Canada women’s national soccer team in the opening fixture.
Assistant coach Charles Haalubono remains optimistic about the team’s chances, expressing confidence that the Copper Queens will deliver an improved performance. He attributed the heavy defeat to fatigue, explaining that the squad had limited recovery time before facing a well-organized Canadian side.
“Fatigue played a part in our last game, but we have now had time to recover and regroup. We expect a much better performance in the next match,” Haalubono said, highlighting the importance of physical and mental readiness at this level of competition.
The technical bench views the FIFA Series as a crucial platform for growth, with the team facing high-calibre opposition as part of its build-up to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for July. The tournament will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, adding further significance to the team’s preparations.
Facing a technically gifted Brazilian side will present another stern test, but it also offers Zambia an opportunity to measure progress and sharpen tactical discipline. For the Copper Queens, the focus will be on improving cohesion, maintaining defensive organization, and converting chances — key areas exposed in their opening match.
