Chaotic Scenes Lead to Abandonment of Muza vs Nkwazi Match
The atmosphere at Mazabuka’s Nakambala Stadium turned chaotic during Wednesday’s Super League match between Muza and Nkwazi, ultimately leading to the abandonment of the game in the 82nd minute. Tensions escalated rapidly after referee Ronald Akapelwa awarded a penalty to the home side, Muza.
The controversial decision incited fury from Nkwazi’s technical bench and players, who vehemently protested against the referee’s call. The protests persisted for over 10 minutes, disrupting the flow of the match and creating a volatile atmosphere on the pitch.
Prior to kickoff, the match was already marred by unsavoury scenes when Nkwazi players were denied entry into the stadium by Muza security officers. Forced to climb over the wall fence, the situation escalated, and Nkwazi’s kit man, identified as Mubiana, was allegedly assaulted in the process.
With tensions already running high, the delayed kickoff only exacerbated the situation. As Akapelwa blew his whistle to resume play, it became apparent that the match was on the brink of chaos.

In the end, the escalating unrest and inability to restore order led to the abandonment of the match, leaving both teams without a result. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining discipline and respect within the footballing community.
Such incidents not only tarnish the reputation of the sport but also pose serious safety concerns for players, officials, and spectators alike. It is imperative that thorough investigations are conducted, and appropriate measures are taken to address the underlying issues and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
