Betway Zambia Seals K10 Million Deal as Official Betting Partner for ZPL

Betway Zambia has taken a significant step in its support for Zambian football, signing an annual K10 million deal to become the Official Betting Partner of the Zambian Premier League (ZPL). This development follows the recent de-linking of the ZPL from the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ). As part of the agreement, Betway will acquire rights within the MTN Super League as the official betting partner.

The presence of Betway in the ZPL is already visible through its sponsorship of two MTN Super League teams: Nkana FC and Green Buffaloes.

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga expressed excitement about this partnership, emphasizing how the de-linking of the ZPL from the football association was a bold and progressive step. The partnership with Betway Zambia marks the league’s strong start in its commercial endeavors.

Kephas Katongo, ZPL Chairperson, noted that this partnership extends beyond league sponsorship. It also includes initiatives for capacity building and monthly awards for players and coaches. He encouraged all clubs to act professionally in line with ZPL requirements.

Betway Zambia’s Chief Operations Officer, Trevis Mulenga, pledged the company’s commitment to developing football in Zambia. This partnership represents an annual investment of up to K10 million. Mulenga highlighted the growth of Zambian football, from AFCON participation to a promising future, and expressed a desire to see more dreams fulfilled through this collaboration.

Kangwa Chileshe, Sports Permanent Secretary, expressed the government’s support for initiatives promoting sports in Zambia and its hope that this partnership will be a beacon of progress and hope for sports in the country.

Betway Zambia’s involvement is a significant boost for Zambian football and demonstrates the continued growth and investment in the sport.
