Zambian winger Albert “Deddo” Kangwanda delivered a standout performance as Young Africans SC swept aside CFFA 4-0 in the CAF Champions League second-round qualifiers, scoring once and providing two assists in a commanding display.
Kangwanda was at the heart of Yanga’s attacking brilliance, using his movement, vision and trademark left foot to torment the opposition and help the Tanzanian giants secure an emphatic away victory.
With Young Africans already leading 1-0, Kangwanda doubled their advantage in the 47th minute. Ghosting in at the far post, the Zambian winger connected with the ball and unleashed a powerful finish with his left foot to make it 2-0 shortly after the restart.
He turned provider seven minutes later, delivering a cross from the left wing that Mudathir spectacularly converted in the 54th minute to extend Yanga’s lead to three goals.
Kangwanda completed his influential contribution by producing a perfectly weighted through ball with his left foot for Max Nzengeli, who finished the move to make it 4-0 in the 59th minute. It was another example of the winger’s ability to create opportunities with precision and attacking intelligence.
The performance further underlined Kangwanda’s growing influence at Young Africans. He has now directly contributed to nine goals across all competitions, registering four goals and five assists in 10 matches.
One goal, two assists and a display built around his exceptional left foot made it an afternoon to remember for the Zambian international. His ability to score, create chances and influence decisive moments continues to make him a key attacking weapon for Yanga.
With Lionel Messi approaching the latter stages of his career, comparisons involving magical left-footed footballers are always tempting. For Kangwanda, the immediate focus will be on maintaining this form and continuing to deliver for Young Africans as they pursue progress in the CAF Champions League.
For Zambian football fans, “Deddo” has provided another reminder of the quality he can bring on the continental stage.
