Shandirwa Strike Sinks Zesco United in CAF Confederations Cup First Leg
Zesco United, the Ndola giants, faced a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Zimbabwean side Dynamos in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup. The match, played at the National Stadium in Gaborone, Botswana, saw Dynamos’ Shandirwa score the decisive goal in the 31st minute.
The match was moved to Gaborone due to the unavailability of approved stadiums in Zimbabwe, but the change of venue did not deter Dynamos, who managed to secure a crucial win ahead of the second leg.
Zesco United will now prepare to host Dynamos this weekend at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in what promises to be a high-stakes return leg. The Zambian side will need to overturn the one-goal deficit to advance to the next round of the tournament.
The winner of this fixture will face either Orapa United of Botswana or Foresters FC of Seychelles in the next round, adding further importance to the upcoming clash in Ndola.
