Leopards have secured the services of experienced Ghanaian centre-back Richard Ocran, who joins the Kabwe-based MTN Super League side as a free agent after leaving Nkwazi.
The 31-year-old defender made his Leopards debut over the weekend in a tense goalless draw against his former side, Nkana FC. His commanding presence in the backline stood out as Leopards successfully kept a clean sheet against the 13-time Zambian champions.
Ocran’s Journey from Ghana to Zambia
Born in Accra, Ocran began his career in the Ghana Premier League with Ashanti Gold. He joined Nkana FC in 2017 after terminating his contract with the Ghanaian club. During his time at Nkana, Ocran became a key figure in the defense and played an instrumental role when the Kitwe giants reached the 2018/19 CAF Confederation Cup group stages under head coach Beston Chambeshi.
New Chapter with Leopards
After a spell with Nkwazi, Ocran has now linked up with Leopards, who are seeking to establish themselves as a strong force in the MTN Super League. His experience in both domestic and continental competitions is expected to be vital for Leopards as they aim for stability and growth this season.
The towering defender’s leadership and defensive solidity will be crucial in guiding the team’s youthful squad through tough encounters ahead.
