Prisca Chilufya Shines in Juarez’s Quarterfinal Win Against Pachuca
Zambian international Prisca Chilufya proved decisive as her first-half goal helped FC Juarez secure a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Pachuca in the first leg of their Apertura 2024 quarterfinal clash in Liga MX Femenil. In the 11th minute, Chilufya capitalized on a costly error by Nigeria’s Ohale Osinachi, who lost possession near the box. Chilufya expertly slotted the ball into the net with a composed right-footed strike from mid-range, giving her team the lead.
Juarez’s defense held strong despite Pachuca’s relentless push for an equalizer, ensuring they maintained their one-goal advantage. This result gives Juarez an edge going into the second leg, which will be held next Sunday at Pachuca’s home ground, known as the fortress of Las Tuzas.

As the tournament rules stipulate, the team with the better aggregate score across both legs will advance to the semifinals. In the event of a tie, the higher-ranked team from the general table, which includes top teams like Rayadas, Tigres, América, and Pachuca, will automatically progress. Chilufya’s goal not only highlights her attacking prowess but also strengthens Juarez’s chances of advancing in the highly competitive Liga MX Femenil playoffs.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the return leg, where Juarez will aim to defend their narrow lead and continue their journey toward a possible Apertura 2024 title.
