Zambian champions Power Dynamos have been drawn in Group A of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, where they will face RS Berkane of Morocco, Pyramids FC of Egypt last season’s champions and Rivers United of Nigeria.
The group stage draw was conducted this afternoon at the SuperSport Studios in Randburg, South Africa, with several African football legends, including Christopher Katongo, assisting in the proceedings.
Power Dynamos, who lifted the African Winners’ Cup in 1991, will be making their debut appearance in the CAF Champions League group stage after eliminating Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast and Vipers SC of Uganda in the preliminary rounds.
Speaking after the draw, former Chipolopolo captain Christopher Katongo described Group A as a “balanced group,” adding that the Zambian champions have a realistic chance of progressing.
“Every group is tough, but I think for Power Dynamos, it’s a fair draw. If you want to be on top, you have to beat the teams at the top. I believe Power has a real chance to advance to the next round,” Katongo said.
Group A is expected to be one of the most competitive, with Pyramids FC entering as defending champions, Berkane boasting strong North African pedigree, and Rivers United representing the rising strength of West African football.
Power Dynamos head coach Oswald Mutapa is optimistic his side can hold their own, building on the momentum from their impressive qualifying campaign that saw them secure a 3–2 aggregate win over Vipers SC.
The CAF Champions’ League group stage is scheduled to kick off between 21–22 November 2025, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
