Nkana FC Part Ways with Head Coach Ian Bakala
Nkana Football Club has officially parted ways with head coach Ian Bakala and his assistants, Dennis Makinka and Josphat Nkhoma. This decision, made on October 7, 2024, comes after the club’s poor start to the 2024/25 MTN Super League season.
Nkana has played seven matches, managing only one win, three draws, and three losses, leaving them with just six points. The club currently sits in the relegation zone at 16th place. This dismal run of form prompted the club’s management to take immediate action in a bid to revive their season and avoid further setbacks.
Ian Bakala, who had been at the helm since the start of the season, faced growing pressure as the team’s performances failed to meet expectations. The assistant coaches, Dennis Makinka and Josphat Nkhoma, have also been relieved of their duties.
Nkana FC is one of Zambia’s most decorated football clubs, but their current position in the relegation zone is a far cry from their usual standing. The club’s leadership is expected to make further announcements soon regarding the appointment of a new coaching team.
