Kabwe Warriors Football Club has officially appointed Albert Kachinga as the new head coach, bringing in a seasoned tactician to lead the team for the remainder of the season. Kachinga, who has vast experience in Zambian football, has signed a three-month contract with an option for review based on performance. His arrival comes after the departure of Numba Mumamba and Noel Mwandila, who recently joined Zanaco FC.
A Coach with a Proven Track Record
Kachinga’s football journey has seen him take charge of several top Zambian clubs, including Nchanga Rangers, Red Arrows, Prison Leopards, and most recently, Trident FC. His impact on Zambian football is well-documented, as he was the first Zambian coach to guide the U-17 Women’s National Team to a FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica. He later went on to coach the senior Zambia Women’s National Team from 2011 to 2018, further solidifying his reputation as a top-level coach.
Kabwe Warriors Chairman, Mutale Ng’andu, expressed confidence in Kachinga’s ability to deliver results and push the team towards its objectives, particularly winning the ABSA Cup and securing continental football.
“Coach Albert Kachinga is not new to Kabwe Warriors. You may wish to know that he once played for Kabwe Warriors in the 1980s, and he is well known within the Kabwe community. He has also coached Prison Leopards and made us enjoy the Local Derby, having transformed Prison Leopards into a formidable force,” Ng’andu stated.
“We have all the trust and belief that Coach Kachinga’s arrival at Kabwe Warriors will help us realize our dreams. Our ambitions remain clear—winning the ABSA Cup, where we were runners-up last season, and securing a top-two finish in the league.”
Kachinga’s Vision for Kabwe Warriors
Upon his unveiling, Coach Kachinga acknowledged the work that has already been done by the team and emphasized his intent to sharpen their attacking play.
“The team has been doing well, and I think my coming in is just to help the team realize its goals. We will try as much as we can to push for the realization of the targets that were set before the previous coaches left,” Kachinga said.
“The previous three games have seen the team struggle in attack. I think that is the most important area we need to address. We have to work on enhancing our attacking options to get the desired results that everybody expects.”
He further called for unity and support from all stakeholders, including the executive, players, and fans, to help the club achieve its goals.
“I believe that with the support from the Executive, the Players, and the Supporters, the dreams will be realized,” Kachinga added.
Kabwe Warriors Set Sights on Silverware
With Kachinga at the helm, Kabwe Warriors will now focus on their immediate targets—improving their league position and going all the way in the ABSA Cup. As the team looks to make a strong finish to the season, all eyes will be on how the new head coach implements his strategies to elevate the Magnificent People’s Team.
